Microneedling is the ticket to that healthy fall glow of your dreams. Here’s what you should know beforehand.
You’ve probably spent the summer soaking up the sun every chance you get, but constantly donning sunglasses and SPF still isn’t enough to keep damaging UV rays at bay. If you’ve got dark spots, fine lines, uneven pigmentation, or scarring on your face, the hot summer sun might be to blame—and microneedling treatments can make a lot of that damage go away.
If you’re ready to give your skin a truly healthy glow just in time for fall, microneedling is the perfect treatment for you. Make sure you know the answer to these common questions about microneedling and book your appointment with Kelly soon!
How does microneedling work?
Microneedling helps your skin produce more collagen, which in turn forms stronger, tighter skin tissue. During the treatment, Kelly uses an advanced tool to make microscopic pinpricks in the skin. (That sounds painful, but it’s not—promise.) In the days following the treatment, the body responds to the pinpricks by producing healing skin tissue that’s bouncy, firm, and rich in collagen.
What should I expect during my microneedling treatment?
First, Kelly will make sure your face is as squeaky clean as possible so there’s no risk of bacteria or dirt getting into your pores. Then she’ll open up your pores with relaxing steam. Once your pores are prepped and ready, Kelly will use a tool called the Réjuvapen™ Micropigmentation System™ to make tiny pinpricks in your skin. She’ll run the pen over your entire face so the treatment is evenly distributed.
Your job during the treatment is easy: close your eyes and relax!

Before your microneedling treatment, Kelly will talk to you about whether your microneedling treatment should include growth factor or platelet-rich plasma from your own blood. Growth factor is the standard option and helps stimulate the collagen-producing agents that produce strong, tight skin cells. But supercharged versions of those growth factors can be found in your own plasma. If your skin would benefit from an even stronger microneedling treatment, Kelly might suggest using your own plasma, which she’ll separate from your blood right then and there.
The entire treatment usually takes an hour or less, so you can get back to your day after the treatment is over. (Although your skin will be a little red for a few days while the healing process gets started.)
How much does microneedling cost?
Microneedling services at Allure Medical Spa start at $300 for growth factor treatments.
