What to Expect in Your Tattoo Removal Sessions

Whether it’s to get rid of a mistake your younger self made, cement the end of a relationship, or land a new job, people get their tattoos removed for all kinds of reasons. Maybe you just don’t want to see it every day in the mirror—whatever the reason, Allure Medical Spa can erase your tattoo. Here are some answers to questions you might already have:

1) Is it painful?

Yes, it is. Your tattoo hurt when you got it, so it’s going to hurt when it comes off. There’s unfortunately no way around that. But you’ve dealt with that level of pain at least once before, and just think how much better it will feel knowing that you won’t feel the pain of looking at it every day.

2) How long does it take?

Depending on a list of factors, it could take anywhere from 4-10 treatments to fully remove your tattoo. Obviously, a larger tattoo will take a little bit longer. The density of ink in your skin is also an important factor: if your tattoo was done professionally, chances are there is more ink in your skin, which will take longer to get out. However, we can’t have a certain timeline until we consult with you personally.

3) What should I look for in a laser removal treatment?

Laser removal treatment is a medical procedure, so you should make sure that your treatment is medically supervised and done by trained, experienced technicians. Laser equipment should be modern, clean and well maintained. This procedure should be handled by professionals.

4) What kind of results can I expect?

For most dark ink tattoos, you can expect a complete removal at the end of your sessions. There are dozens of kinds of ink in many different colors too, but we are able to tune our Q-Switched lasers to deal with every pigment. Everyone’s skin and tattoos are different, and so we’ll monitor your process the whole way through.
